Daniel Halford
Chief Engineer
Daniel is a recording engineer. He also lectures in music and sound design technology at the University of Hertfordshire and has taught the same subject at Southampton University.
After gaining a, 1st Class Honours, BSc degree in Sound Design Technology, Daniel went on to work with the English Sinfonia Chamber Orchestra as part of a Knowledge Exchange Eastern Partnership (KEEP) looking at orchestral performance parameters, web streaming, interactive music classroom systems and audience contribution systems. Other research work carried out with Bournemouth University looked at the use of real-time motion data capture and interpretation of data, for use in a musical context.
Since working regularly as a recording engineer, Daniel has made over 40 professional releases - many of them with UHR - several of which have received critical acclaim for their sound quality.
Daniel's interests in audio and music are wide and varied and in addition to his work as a recording engineer, Daniel works freelance on a wide range of projects including music technology workshops, video and mixed media work, live sound engineering, composition, radio production and sound design.
Recent clients include the Society for the Promotion of New Music (SPNM), The National Theatre, Robinson College Choir, Spitalfields Festival, Greenwich & Docklands International Festival, the BBC, Eikon Games and Cambridge University. He is also interested in films and has experience in various sound department positions including dubbing mixer and supervising sound editor. He is currently involved with a number of forthcoming films in this role.
As a performing musician, Daniel regularly plays the drums with the funk-pop band 'Charlie and the Funk Factory'.
