Dominic Halford

Designer

Following his longstanding interest in art and animation, Dominic studied Computer Visualisation and Animation at the National Centre for Computer Animation (NCCA), Bournemouth University receiving a BA(hons).

In his second year of study, Dominic and two classmates created an animation entitled 'Twisted City' which was shown in the animation festival at SIGGRAPH 2005, regarded as the premier technology conference in the world. Dominic and his colleagues also gave a presentation and published a sketch as part of the main SIGGRAPH conference. Both this and the animation screening were written up in various industry magazines.

Returning to Bournemouth to research an MA in the first cohort of the newly established 'Masters by Project', Dominic continued to develop new ideas and hone his skills, attaining an MA with merit.

During these years, Dominic also advised and worked with students from other areas of the Bournemouth Media School who wished to add visual effects to their projects as well as presenting and teaching on two computer animation summer schools run by the University.

Since leaving Bournemouth, Dominic has worked freelance on visual effects for various projects such as ITV's 'Frankenstein' and most notably the BBC's 'Fight for Life' series which claimed the 2008 TV BAFTA for "Best visual effects" - beating Primeval, Dr Who, and Rome.

Dominic joined UHRecordings to work on video and motion graphics for the forthcoming DVD release 'Between Music and Theatre' and has participated in the innovative production of 'Spectrum Live' where he worked closely with the recording team in order to issue 4 fully packaged and printed CD volumes within 20 minutes of the end of each performance. He now prepares design work for all UHRecordings releases.

Dominic continues to work on design and visual effects projects and is involved with the early stages of several feature length productions.
