Elfyn Jones
Composer
Elfyn Jones graduated from University of Wales College Cardiff with a BMus 1st Class Hons in 1993, then gained his MMus in Composition at Guildhall School of Music & Drama in 1995. He has worked as a composer and music animateur on projects for ENO Baylis, BBC National Orchestra of Wales, WNO, NYMT English Touring Opera, Opera Circus, Hackney Music Development Trust, Spare Tyre, Spitalfields Festival.
He now works as a Music Development Leader for Devon Music Service. Stage works include The Firebucket (musical, 1997, ENO Baylis), The Nightjar (1999, Tête à Tête), The Dead of Night (ON Resonance), Anniversaries (ENO Baylis), Diver (National Theatre Studio, 2007), working in partnership with writer Tim Satterthwaite. Instrumental works include Si Hei Lwli (St Alban's Brass Band, 2003), Sad Serenade (Hatfield Philharmonic wind ensemble, 2004), The Journey Part I (Hatfield Philharmonic Orchestra, 2007) and String Quartet No 1 (Aylwin String Quartet, 2008) – released on CD, Dec 2008, on UH Recordings.
His new full-length opera Jacko's Hour is being performed at Brighton Pavilion Theatre and Bridewell Theatre, London 11-19th September 2009. Full information about the production can be found at www.operaengine.org.uk.
